In That Time My Black A** Joined the Navy, Alexis takes us on that very journey.

She was just a young black girl from the South Side of Chicago, who at the end of the day couldn't afford her college tuition. In a last-ditch effort, she decided to join the United States Navy for a better life.

From there, we follow her being dropped off at bootcamp, up until her first deployment, and her eventual separation from the armed forces. This is a story for prospects, veterans, those still serving or those simply curious for a military story from the prospective of a black woman.
