Ferise Tremont hiked into the remote mountains of Maine, seeking the treasures to be found in an old abandoned beryl mine. On her journey, she is trailed by handsome Newman Blanchard, a man suspicious of strangers, including the pretty newcomer trespassing on his property.
Unfortunately, as Ferise begins her exploration, the entrance to the old beryl mine collapses. Trapped behind tons of sharp rocks and dirt, Ferise and Newman are forced to use their wits and the few artifacts they can find to survive.
As they seek a way out through the other side of the mine shaft, they endure additional cave ins, an earthquake, and a swirling vortex of rushing water which threatens to kill them both. Despite the danger, Newman and Ferise find beauty, passion, trust and love, the greatest treasure of them all.
