The Line is a one-sitting read for those who question their faith in God and wonder if their lives really matter.
The story opens with an elderly caretaker hanging Christmas decorations in the Tower, an aging office building. The old building, which is also Lewis' home, is secretly slated for destruction. Lewis unknowingly holds the fate of the old building, as well as the community who loves it, in his hands.
Lewis and Ed Davis, the Tower's owner, built the city landmark when they returned from the war. During a near-fatal incident in combat, they discover the secret of The Line as well their common purpose for living.
Lewis becomes an obstacle to Ed's son who plots to tear down the Tower. Lewis resists the forces of greed and deceit as he fights to preserve his home and the things he loves.
The LIne shows how the seemingly insignificant choices we make can propel us in different directions. In one direction, those who always put themselves first inevitably become last. In the other direction, by humbly serving and respecting others, they find themselves in front of The Line.
