Kenyan Coast Through a Bus Window
Clement Amolo
- I
- sat
- by
- the
- bus
- window,
- watching
- the
- blue
- ocean
- which
- appeared
- once
- in
- a
- while.
- I
- would
- type
- some
- observations
- in
- my
- phone
- diary,
- which
- I
- meant
- to
- be
- a
- private
- journal.
- But
- months
- later
- it
- occurred
- to
- me
- these
- musings
- could
- be
- stretched
- into
- a
- short,
- insightful
- travel
- journal,
- for
- whatever
- they
- are
- worth.
- While
- I
- have
- exaggerated
- one
- or
- two
- incidents
- and
- deliberately
- turned
- decent
- human
- beings
- into
- caricatures,
- in
- overall
- I
- have
- remained
- as
- faithful
- to
- the
- details
- as
- any
- dignified
- narrator
- should.
- So
- long
- the
- needle
- is
- faithful
- to
- the
- pore,
- I
- see
- no
- point
- being
- false
- to
- my
- audience.This
- was
- originally
- written
- as
- my
- small,
- private
- journal
- as
- I
- traveled
- along
- the
- ocean,
- watching
- the
- beautiful
- scenery
- through
- the
- bus
- window.
- Months
- later,
- it
- occurred
- to
- me
- these
- sketches
- scribbled
- in
- a
- moving
- bus
- can
- make
- a
- short,
- amusing
- story
- for
- anyone
- who
- loves
- travel
- tales.
- As
- far
- as
- I
- am
- concerned,
- this
- was
- a
- perfect adventure.
