An abandoned car in West Seattle raises a few flags when Detective Rage’s police business card is found on the passenger’s side foot area. It is plain, it was carefully placed there to be found. The car is towed to the police garage and torn down to the frame to find anything else. But the only thing found is that all the computer counts are set to zero. Most difficult to do is the milage, and it is zero. The car was later found to be stolen but the owner has been in Hawaii for a week and did not know or report it.
It is clear someone is after Detective Rage. Why, there are many reasons. But they have at least three leads. In some order they are the stolen car, the business card, and the chop shop that prepared the car to be found. Then the zeroing of all the computer counters in the car at the chop shop.
Will Detective Rage and Sergeant Jones go on the run and hide until they get a break? Or is someone trying to have the police follow their procedure book and get them in a lock step mode? This means they can control what the police are doing. Inspector Strong is worried they are being placed where someone wants them for some reason.
What is the correct order of the three leads they have? A different order provides a different response for Detective Rage.
The police decide to close down the chop shop that prepaid the car and its affiliated units, will that be enough to get the Strong’s team out and away from their procedure book, are they still in the lock step that someone wants them in?
During all this time, where is the FBI? Inspector Strong has yet to bring them in or even talk to Ted. What does he see or feel in what is happening?
