It is a warning that is embedded in some aspects of Trinbagonian culture. A word of caution to those that embark on a journey that may have an outcome of dire consequences. It is on you to accept the responsibility for your actions and not seek to blame others for it. After all, who told you to go there? Who told you to do that...why didn't you listen?

However, a part of the warning that is rarely spoken of, or even hinted at by others, is control. It is used as a whipping tool, a form of dominance against you. It may be said to you as a simple demand for someone else's will to be followed without question. If you chose to disobey and do your own thing then you would feel more than words of reprimand, you will feel the rod.
