The Strange and the Usual

Dora Wertheim was born in Vienna, Austria and grew up in the long-lost world of the 1920s and 1930s. When the Nazis took power, she made it to Israel where she became a pioneer in a kibbutz. Her story brings to vivid life the long vanished ways of pre-World War II Europe and pre-independence Israel. In a uniquely engaging voice she tells her story that is sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, and always captivating.
