It's 1999 in San Francisco. Police lieutenant Day has made a life for himself. He's good at his job, and he likes it. He has a partner he'd trust with his life. And he's met a woman he just can't live without. The only cloud on the horizon is that a group of very competent professionals are trying to kill him, and they just might succeed.

That's a quick synopsis of Stranger Day. But Stranger Day is a novel that defies easy classification.

Stranger Day is certainly science fiction. You see, Day himself isn't human. He's an advanced humanoid AI, escaped from the lab and hiding in plain sight on the streets of San Francisco.

Beyond doubt, Stranger Day is also a mystery. There's a mystery to be solved, and Day's life hangs upon the solution.

Is Stranger Day a thriller? Maybe. There's intense action in the book. But is it relentless enough to satisfy the true thriller fans? They'll have to decide that.

And a few readers have even said that Stranger Day is a literary work. They point out that the prose is literate and accomplished. The characters aren't cardboard cutouts. And Day's own arc is complex and nuanced. So, is Stranger Day literary? The literary devoteeswill have to render judgement.

In the end, perhaps it's best just to say that Stranger Day is a well-written book that an intelligent reader with a good imagination should take a look at. A reader like you, say.
