Everyone thought the brilliant young computer scientist, Carsten Pietersen, had died but his Silex chip ensured its human host survived. Hijacking the body and mind of a rich entrepreneur kept Pietersen's chip/brain combination alive and provided an opportunity not only, for revenge, but also, the means by which it could expand the number of recipients of the rogue Anthropos XT operating system. If some of the USA's most brilliant young scientists became enhanced with the Silex chip and XT operating system any hope of controlling this technology would be over and the military, criminals and megalomaniacs across the world would soon seek to possess the enhanced powers it offered.
