Hunters' Moon

The night before Vaughn's wedding, she is bitten by a wild dog and dies. Randy, the janitor at the morgue, finds her and tells her that the dog carried a virus, which turned her into a werewolf. She has become immortal. Almost. Along with the transformation at the full come come the cravings, which drive other werewolves--cannibalistic wolves who call themselves the lupophagos--to seek out the flesh of other wolves.

Randy tells Vaughn that he and is friends, wolves like them, will keep her safe from the lupophagos. But Vaughn does not trust so easily and wonders if Randy is her guardian or her captor.
