What if they came back and witnessed everything?
What if Native Americans had allies from beyond this world? What if those allies returned — and saw what had been done. The poisoned lands. The stolen futures. The staggering numbers of Indigenous women and girls who vanished and were never found.
This novel confronts these questions with a force that no film or book has attempted before. It does not soften what it shows. It does not ask for your comfort or your agreement.
It asks only that you look — with the eyes you were conditioned, from the very beginning of your life, to keep closed.
If you think you can imagine what this book will show you, you have already crossed its Event Horizon.
Content advisory
This book depicts historical and ongoing atrocities with unflinching honesty. It contains scenes of extreme violence, because what happened — and what continues to happen after more than 500 years — cannot be portrayed any other way. It was not designed to protect the comfort of those who benefited from these events.
Please do not read it if you are in a vulnerable place. No book is worth your wellbeing.
— To the organisations that have made careers from Indigenous suffering —
This work was not built for you and will not be controlled by you. The argument that only Indigenous people may speak about Indigenous injustice is the oldest tool in the system that created that injustice. It was designed to divide those who would otherwise stand together. Examine carefully who benefits most when allies are told to stay silent.
You do not need permission to recognise another human being's suffering as your own concern.
To every genuine grassroots MMIWG organisation — the ones run by families, by survivors, by people doing the real work with almost nothing — please reach out. This work belongs to your fight. Use it. Put your name on it if it serves you. That is not a gesture. That is a promise.
