Jack Stamper is a thirteen-year-old hard rock musician, in Atlanta, Georgia, struggling with Asperger syndrome, whose girlfriend is murdered by Janus. After recovering, Jack meets the founders of the Covert Militia and agrees to lead their Atlanta Theater, with the members of his band as his main staff. At the same time, the neo-Soviets, have started to succeed in their goal in reforming the U.S.S.R. and Juliana Lovasky, another young musician, struggling with dyslexia, joins their equivalent of the Covert Militia after losing her boyfriend to Janus. Aware of their progress, the dark lord vows to make their lives at home and in school miserable, by making feel betrayed by their friends and family, and prevent Jack and Juliana from uniting to stop his ultimate goal.
