The Osmium Mirror

A bloody theft at a precious metals brokerage in London presents Scotland Yard with a perplexing question: why steal less valuable osmium when a large supply of platinum is in plain view? In the U.S., the metallic element osmium has long been tied to activities of a powerful demon involved in a plot to dominate the world. The small group of unlikely demon fighters who jokingly refer to themselves as the Guardians is soon pulled into the affair. Led by a beautiful medieval witch and a geology student, they are promptly exposed to lethal danger from a variety of minions of the demon. The demon's primary mission is to import from the Hidden Land beneath the sea an even more powerful demon, in league with which he will attain the goal of universal domination. The deadly struggle involves a mad scientist of offbeat genius and a mirror that will break the barrier between the worlds. Odds for success of the Guardians and their handful of allies are slim, but to success there is no alternative this side of eternal slavery of mankind.
