To all things, there is a beginning...

Long before the birth of Lam-ang, before the Great Sleep or the flooding of the world, there was the immortal realm of Kaluwalhatian. Set eons in the past, this book tells the tale of how everything in the Alamat universe began. From the creator of the Dians, the One called Maykapal, to the making of the mortal realm.

Described in detail are the many stories of the creator gods, which include the nigh-omnipotent Bathala, Kaptan, Magbabaya, and many others. Just who were they who created everything? Why did they create the Poons? Who in turn created the enkanto spirits and the first tikbalangs, kapres, duwendes, and other species of nilalang-lubong.

And then there are the Taudians and Alagasi, the first of the human race. Descendants of Malakas and Maganda, Sikalak and Sikabay, and others of the first brood, these first humans would be loved and cherished by the Dians above all others, even more than the Poons themselves. These first humans would eventually conquer the seas, build great kingdoms, and raise grand armies with the aid and unbridled support from the gods and spirits.

But immense and powerful as they had become, their hubris, compounded by greed and prejudice, would inevitably change and shape the destinies of all three realms for tens of thousands of years to come.
