Doctor Hamish McVay returns to his hometown after being gone for twenty-five years. His mother and father are starting to decline in health and are needing some help.

Hamish is rescued by a giant of a man when horses break loose during a parade. The man turns out to be the one person Hamish doesn't want to see. Glen Carlyle, the man who broke his heart twenty-five years ago.
