The Apostate X

I rolled up some bread around my hook and casted my line into the water and found a place on the riverbank to sit and relax. I looked up into the sky, there were no clouds or thunder until a cloud started to gather in the sky across the river above the large native apple tree that was standing alone in the paddock. Suddenly lightning lit up from the cloud and struck the ground across the river. As the sky lit up, I could see several people's dark silhouettes standing in the paddock.

The sky darkened again and I relaxed, noticing a large fruit bat that was hanging from the branch of a nearby tree that was overhanging the water. In my mind I said to it, 'well hello there.' Suddenly in my mind I hear the words, 'well hello yourself. What are you doing?' My thoughts responded, 'what does it look like? I'm fishing and it appears as though I've got the catch of the day.'

This story details the beginning of a birth of a song writer and the birth of an author and sheds a whole new light on what it means to walk the 8-mile road.
