This book is a Novel, or at best, an interpretation. It presents a picture of Jesus and His brothers, the Apostles and the early church, based on the facts and stories which were available to me. It is not a precise, indisputable record, but I have sought to remain faithful to the Scriptures.
While Jude and James, Simon and Joseph are mentioned in Scripture as real life brothers of Jesus, very few facts are given about them or the rest of the family, apart from the records which refer to James’ encounter with Jesus after the resurrection and his acceptance as a leader in the Jerusalem Church. Scripture confirms that Jesus’ family became part of the New Testament Church and the letters of Jude and James are generally accepted as having been written by Jesus’ brothers. Other details of their family life etc. are pure speculation. Through the eyes of Jude I have tried to follow the life and ministry of James, but most of all, of their Divine Brother, Jesus. I have sought to enter into their emotions and reactions as they saw Jesus revealed as Saviour and witnessed the astounding growth of His Kingdom following His death, resurrection and ascension. Various records have been scrutinised and some have provided information which went beyond Scripture. These speculations of men are interesting, but that is all they are, speculations. The Bible must remain the touchstone.
