A scream breaks the silence filling the rest area, jolting Tad, a pharmaceutical rep, out of his nap. After a survey of the rest area, he finds a thirteen-year-old girl named Erin, whose parents have vanished from their RV. With little help from local law enforcement, Tad feels obligated to help the girl, who reminds him of his own daughter, the guilt of whose death in a car accident is pushing him to the edge of insanity. A multi-state search leads to their abduction by a sinister group of researchers and the discovery of an illegal medical testing facility her father had worked for and from which he is now running. With the opportunity to save himself, Tad resists the urge to escape on his own, and risks his life to rescue Erin and her family.
