When you get the chance to finish off your enemy, make sure there is nothing left of him for fear that he might remember the hurt you dealt him and come seeking for revenge.
A year following the encounter with Hades and the death of Hecate, each Olympian is dealing with the loss and tragedy differently. Joey (Apollo) struggles to find meaning in life and blames Zeus for the death of his sister unable to deal with the loss any other way. John (Zeus) tries to take his mind off the loss of Hecate by playing searching for answers along with Ares (Marc) and Hephaestus (James) who find life outside of the Olympian program a struggle. At this low point in their lives, an old enemy of Five Branches resurfaces with the intent of destroying the Olympians. This time more sinister and driven than before. Memories are revisited for Zeus who is thrown back to a time in his life where he is reminded of his helplessness. The Olympians are called upon to tackle this new threat unaware that they have a target on their backs too. For the first time, the Olympians are on the run, and this time it’s their intelligence that is needed to save the day, not their physical abilities.
Friendships are tested, bonds are broken, and lifelong lessons of learning to heal from past hurt are themes central to the book.
Sometimes the best payback is not to destroy a person; it is to destroy their legacy and everything they represent.
