We go Out There a lot more often than we should. Matron and Mrs. Blood won't do it because it expends what little energy they manage to hone within the house, but I know it's more due to fear. Contrary to what's written about ghosts and spooks and the undead, none of us like being around the living. Wandering around physical space is annoying. We feel pain Out There, and it sucks. The whole being dead thing means we don't have to deal with all the crap we had to when alive. I don't hate the living. There's no jealousy, no longing. At Paradox House we still eat and sleep and do all the things we did when alive. The physical world looks bland and salty in comparison to the one we created. When fully energized, sure, Paradox House really is a paradise.
But we can't make it that way now. Not with this Host.
Shadow is part of a 'family' created by Mr. Black and so far his death hasn't been so bad, he can still hang out in his room and listen to his mix tapes on his Sony Walkman, surrounded by his Clash posters. It could be a great eternity if they didn't have to rely on their Host, Ted Buckman.
Ted, who can't seem to stop killing young women.
Ted, who is starving them all.
Shadow knows he has to fix their Paradise, but the cost may be more than his simple room. It may be his universe itself.
