It's an ancient tradition among the Christians, especially in Catholic and Anglican domains, to celebrate the Stations of the Cross, also Way of the Cross or simply The Cross especially in the Holy Week and the Good Friday.

If You search in the internet for these terms (Google, Wikipedia etc.), You'll read that there are some differences within this celebrations. In this ebook You can view a Stations of the Cross with 14 stations, as shown in Lauterhofen. The relief pictures made of cast iron are shown separated from the fluted columns of the single stations with the descriptions of the scenes in English, French and German and some additional informations.

These stations were erected in 1884 on the left handed side of the way and have released the older ones from 1628. In 2002 all columns were completely cleaned, fresh varnished and moved to the right handed side. These reliefs are elaborated by an unknown artist (foundry). At the middle there is a small church (also renovated in 2002) and at the end there is a crucifixion group with Mary and John. The way is about 350 m in length and to go easily.

Lauterhofen is a market community in the administrative district Neumarkt in the Oberpfalz. The Kalvarienberg up there is this Stations of the Cross.
