The family had huge fruit trees and grew plenty of beans, corn and other vegetables in the backyard; a necessity given the number of mouths to feed on a limited income. This was food for the community.

Pinky’s mother loved cooking outdoors on a Sunday when the neighbourhood children would join in for a meal and play. This is where she witnessed the extent to which food brings people together, both in happy and sad times. Not long thereafter, food became her therapy. Experimenting with various ingredients and tasting different spice levels was her journey to finding her love for food.
When preparing meals for the day, her mood determines the dishes. The three favourite ones passed down from her mother were chicken biryani, spicy pumpkin and pinto beans (sugar beans) on the fire. She knows eating fresh meat and vegetables is the healthiest way of living.

Pinky’s passion for food and the different ways in which to combine ingredients into beautiful dishes, both visually and in taste, is encapsulated in Cooking Therapy With Pinky. This is a collection of quick and easy recipes that avoids the need to spend hours in the kitchen.

For Pinky, food is her soul space – making her happy, funny and social. It is the secret to bringing together everyone no matter how young or old.
