This is a short story of about 14000 words. The Best Things Are Worth It is a story of Nick Sheldon. A quiet man that finds himself taking care of a young woman named Gracie. After her brother is killed trying to warn Nick of being shot in the back she is now all alone. Owing the young man who gave his life warning him, Nick takes the young woman with him. His vision of starting a cattle ranch in a huge valley outside of Virginia City Nevada soon becomes her vision as well. As time goes by, they find themselves drawn to each other and their dreams grow together. Known as Lone Eagle to the Nez Perce Indians he becomes a friend they find they can depend on.
