A woman is murdered at home in a busy run-down area of Northampton. DCI Brian Thomas has just been transferred from The Met to head up a major crimes team. Together with his assistant,DI Sheila Grey, they unravel complex motives involving drugs, racism, blackmail, and jealousy.
