Tribute to the Forest God

In the wilds of Maine, I ran—away from my family's plans for me. Away from the boy they meant to "master" me, and straight into the camp of strangers preparing to honor the Forest god, paying tribute in hopes of securing his blessing.

When I stumbled into their camp, they saw something in me—something that made them believe I could be the one, the chosen tribute, worthy of receiving the god's seed to create a new magical generation. But I've never been with a man, let alone a god. Was I truly worthy of such a fate?

Then he appeared. Tall, powerful, and commanding presence; my heart raced with a mixture of fear and desire. As he looked at me, I dared to hope that not only would I be chosen, but that I could become a goddess to remain his forever.
