Virgil Might Have a Moment

People think Virgil is on the city council because his vote can be swayed, and he knows it. But what he thinks, and they don't know, is that his prayers have the power to improve lives other than his own. His belief intensifies when a childhood friend arrives back in town to develop an abandoned golf course into a housing project the town needs. Maybe Virgil happens to be praying for the right things and the right people at the right time. But if he really tries, if he truly believes, if he puts in the work, he might have a moment of his own, a moment to rival all those of his old friend, and anyone else who has ever overlooked or underestimated him.
