The story begins where The Gift Counselor ended. Jonquil Bloom, a gift counselor in a Santa Monica department store, is raising her ten-year-old alone. The new man in her life wants them to become a family but past losses make her hesitate. She takes her son to Ireland to visit her beloved grandmother who raised her.
