Tokugawa Ieyasu (Japanese: ???? ???? [46], English: Tokugawa Ieyasu; January 31, 1543 - June 1, 1616), also known by his childhood name Takachiyasu, was a daimyo and tenno during the Warring States period and the Edo period in Japan. He was the first Shogun of the Edo Shogunate and one of the Three Great Warriors of the Warring States period (the other two being Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi). He was an outstanding politician and military strategist in Japanese history.
