Disillusioned with the life he has built for himself in the city, Clayton Randall returns to where he started along with his new dog companion, Max. Once home, he runs into Barclay Reid, an ex cop turned farmer and writer, who he had met briefly in the city. They soon embark on a new romance.
He starts the interior decorating business he always dreamed of owning and soon lands an opportunity to decorate a huge mansion that's being turned into a retreat. However things take a turn when his new client is found dead in her pool during a party attended by the town's elite.
Clayton finds himself drawn into the investigation along with Barclay. Can Clayton solve the crime while navigating sexual tension with Barclay while also picking out paint colors and pillows?
