Waiting for the Light

A memoir of a modern day Persephone. The tale of a blind woman finding her way through life using strength training, standup comedy, her poetry, Buddhist philosophy and the music of Alabama 3.

Valerie has also painstakingly created an audiobook version of her memoir using sophisticated text to speech software. It was important to Valerie that at least something of her own voice be present, in this her story. So she recorded and edited the poems herself, again with the help of her adaptive software. However, after all that effort, the fact that she now had voice recordings in the mix, meant her book was not accepted on any of the audio book platforms that sell books with non-human voicing.
